- Is the first of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert. The novel was previously adapted into the 1984 Dune film by David Lynch as well as a 2000 Sci-Fi Channel miniseries Frank Herbert’s Dune and its 2003 sequel Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune.
- Had a budget of $165 million; has made around $236 million in a week.
- Has received positive reviews from critics who praised its scope, although some found it boring.
