Sooraj Pancholi drove Jiah Khan to suicide: CBI reports

Bollywood actress Jiah Khan’s suicide in 2013 sent shivers down the industry, and those aspiring to be a part of it. The fact that lack of work, constant struggle and loneliness could drive you to a point of taking your own life unearthed the harsh reality of the glamour world. While this is all true, Jiah’s suicide has more to do with lost love and an abusive relationship with actor Sooraj Pancholi. Although he was cleared of all charges earlier, the latest CBI probe claims that it was in fact Sooraj who drove Jiah to take her life.

In a new turn of events, the Indian agency has filed a charge sheet booking Sooraj for abetment to suicide. “Investigation revealed that, the note written by the deceased Jiah Khan establishes that the accused Sooraj Pancholi ruined her life... the willful conduct of the accused drove the deceased to commit suicide. Hence the accused is liable for his actions to be punished for the willful conduct and abetment to suicide,” the charge sheet states.

Investigation has further revealed that Jiah was pregnant with Sooraj’s child and that the latter conducted an abortion at home in order to protect his reputation, leaving the Nishabd actress scarred and in severe depression. 

Jiah Khan, in one of her letters to Sooraj Pancholi, said: “I was scared of getting pregnant but I gave you myself completely. The pain you have caused me every day has destroyed every bit of me, destroyed my soul and I aborted our baby when it hurt me deeply.”

Meanwhile, Sooraj and his family have been denying the allegations and are ready to fight against all charges. “It is their word against ours. The letters which were found in Jiah's house are not addressed to Sooraj. There is no date and no time on the letter. We are going to fight this in Court,” Sooraj’s father, actor Aditya Pancholi, told NDTV.
