is going all out. The film in question is Dangal, which is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and is based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh. For this particular film, which releases in December 2016, Aamir Khan, whose usual weight stands at 68-70 kgs, gained almost 30 kgs.
“Currently I am weighing 95 kgs. I shall be portraying the stage from 45 to 55 years. After that I will take a break of 5 months, get back to my usual weight of 68-70 kgs and get into the Dhoom 3 mode to play the younger version for which we will shoot for around 15 days,” revealed Aamir Khan at a recent press conference, held in Ludhiana this past week. The press-meet was held in Ludhiana because the film will be shot in and around Ludhiana mostly as well as parts of Pune, Delhi and Mumbai.
When asked about how such a drastic transformation affects health, the actor, according to reports, stated, “I am film motivated. I do whatever is needed for a film. In Ghajini I had to build a big physique, lose all muscle for 3 idiots, and for Dangal I have actually put on weight, I have actually become fat. The process of losing that will be a big challenge. Health does get affected. I have gained 30 kgs in six months and then I will lose weight in five months.”
As for the film, television actor Sakshi Tanwar will play the role of Aamir’s wife while two newcomers have been cast as his daughters. And like most Aamir Khan films, Dangal will also tackle societal norms, particularly the discrimination against girl child in and across India.
“Nitesh has written a wonderful story. The topic is very important, it’s very dramatic. It highlights the discrimination that is meted out to the girl child in India. The best part is that he has done it in a very entertaining manner. The heart of the story is emotional, but it also has a lot of humour. Raju Hirani has this unique way to tell a story where he says something socially very relevant but he tells his story in a very entertaining manner. Similarly Nitesh has written a very entertaining lovely script, the dialogues are very entertaining. Each time I listen to the dialogues, I laugh a lot. I cry as well as laugh.”
Abhishek Bachchan carries on
Ranbir Kapoor’s last three films fizzled out at the box office and, according
to several reports, this reality has really shaken up the actor. Currently promoting Tamasha, which reunites him with Rockstar director Imtiaz Ali and old flame Deepika Padukone, and shooting for Jagga Jasoos with real-life girlfriend Katrina Kaif, Ranbir’s case of three flops is the talk of Bollywood.
However, if there’s one actor who seems to be stuck in a never-ending cycle of flops, it is, without question, Abhishek Bachchan. His last solo film, All Is Well, opened to terrible reviews. It didn’t perform well on the box office either. But despite his consistent flops, Abhishek Bachchan is still signing films. Ensemble films continue to rescue the actor from extinction. A case in point: Ram Lakhan remake.
Filmfare is reporting that Abhishek Bachchan alongside Hrithik Roshan are “likely to be roped in” in a remake of the iconic film, Ram Lakhan. It has been reported in the press that filmmaker(s) Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty have joined hands to recreate this particular film. Earlier reports suggested that Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor may be tapped for the roles that were originally essayed by Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor. But now the grapevine suggests that the plum roles may land with Hrithik and Abhishek.
Currently, Abhishek Bachchan is shooting for the ensemble comedy caper, Housefull 3. He is, according to reports, also being tapped by Sanjay Gupta for a gangster film. Titled Ek Tha Gangster, the film will provide a change of subject for Abhishek who is mostly seen in comedic films like Happy New Year, Bol Bachchan, et al.
