In the Box, an initiative by music producer Saad Sultan has gotten back some of Pakistan’s more famous artists in the studio. Among them is Farhan Saeed, actor and musician, who has been in the news off late for his upcoming film, Tich Button.
With multiple Coke Studio appearances as well as several Jal records to his name before going solo, Farhan Saeed is the face of bubblegum pop. Though his songs can be a mix bag at times, he is also the same singer who gave us terrific hits like ‘Sajni’, ‘Teri Yaad’ and ‘Ik Din Ayega’.
Farhan is back in the studio, courtesy of In the Box with Saad Sultan as producer and is featured in the second episode. The song, ‘Baliyay’ is written, composed and produced by Sultan with the video directed by Saad Hashmi.
‘Baliyay’ is one of the strongest songs in Farhan Saeed’s solo repertoire. Neither garish, neither over-the-top, the single is closer to ‘Sajni’ in tone. The message behind the song is to spread peace and “working towards a better place”. Not bad at all. Saad Sultan creates a world of pop music that suits Farhan Saeed’s vocals and the outcome is a good pop song.
