Comedian and host Ellen DeGeneres, who has been hosting her show, The Ellen Show, for the past 15 years is geared up for a Netflix special Relatable where she will talk about things that are relatable to her.
In the first trailer of her upcoming show, that was released earlier this week reveals how she came up with the title of the special. “A friend of mine was at my house and I told him, ‘I’m going to do stand-up again.’ And he said, ‘Really?’ And I said, ‘Yeah,’ ” she said adding, “And he said, ‘Well, do you think you’re still relatable?’ Just then, Batu, my butler, stepped into the library.”
With Relatable, Ellen will open up about her life’s journey, how she made it as an iconic daytime host, her struggles and her fame, and how she remained relatable to us throughout it all. “The woman we love most returns to what started it all,” says the trailer, drawing attention to her 15-year absence from the stage.
Ellen DeGeneres started her advent into stand-up comedy in the early 1980’s; however, DeGeneres’ last stand-up special was 2003’s Here and Now on HBO.
Her upcoming stand-up special, Relatable, is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on December 18. DeGeneres, who raked in $87.5 million last year, according to Forbes, previously announced the premiere date during a comedic video of herself calling all of her celebrity friends to tell them about the special including U2’s Bono, Reese Witherspoon, former President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
