He gave the audience plenty of reasons to laugh as one of the hosts of the Lux Style Awards, circa 2015. And now Hussain has bagged a substantial role in a new film, an Indo-Pak joint venture.
Having made a memorable debut in Wajahat Rauf’s 2015 film, Karachi Se Lahore, actor-writer Yasir Hussain’s career graph has been in an upward spiral mode. He gave the audience plenty of reasons to laugh as one of the hosts of the Lux Style Awards, circa 2015. And now Hussain has bagged a substantial role in a new film, an Indo-Pak joint venture.
The untitled project features Yasir Hussain and Pakistani actor Sami Khan in lead roles while the rest of the cast is made up of actors from India. Among them is veteran actor Om Puri, who is also starring in another upcoming Pakistani production, Actor in Law, besides this untitled film.
Speaking to Instep, Hussain, who is currently shooting with Puri in India, noted how the film is a joint venture and while the crew and most of the production team is Indian, the film’s director and producer are Pakistani.
“It’s a light-hearted film and revolves around the story of some friends,” Hussain told Instep. “I am playing an Indian guy, a Hindu in the film for which I have been working on my accent so I can deliver what the character demands.”
The upcoming film will be shot in England besides India and is expected to release next year.
Hussain’s other projects also sound intriguing. In addition to starring in Karachi Se Lahore’s sequel, Lahore Sey Aagay alongside Saba Qamar, the actor will also be seen in Yasra Rizvi’s directorial debut, Senti Aur Mentai.
In addition, Hussain has also been offered a role in a TV serial. Though he’s worked in theatre and cinema, Hussain has never worked in television before. The actor is currently mulling over the offer.
