San Diego Comic Con is in full swing. Between the various panels, trailer and poster launches, this year’s edition is another massive pop and geek culture celebration.

Some of the biggest TV shows and films had their day at the ongoing event. The cast of fan favourite shows such as Game of Thrones and Walking Dead gave fans a chance to learn more about their favourite shows and their future plans.

During the hour-long panel of Walking Dead, producer Gale Anne Hurd shed light on what to expect from the coming season.

“It’s getting more complex,” said Hurd. “We’re going to find more people we haven’t met before, living in the apocalypse and figuring out how to survive. Our characters will be meeting both friend and foe. We’re gonna see leaders with different styles, and how they work … some benevolent, and some not so benevolent.”

Meanwhile the cast of Game of Thrones, the HBO show which has racked up the most number of Emmy nominations this year, also made its presence felt at the famous convention.

A new production teaser for the upcoming seventh season was released and it was also confirmed that seven episodes will be aired in the summer of 2017.

Director Miguel Sapochnik, who directed the season finale confirmed that he won’t be returning to direction duties while it was also made clear that season eight could be the finale season for GOT.

Edward Snowden, the subject of Oliver Stone’s new film, Snowden, also made an appearance via a satellite connection from Russia as he spoke to Stone in a Q&A session.

In Stone’s film, Snowden’s role is essayed by actor Joseph Gordon Levitt. Speaking about Levitt’s performance, Snowden told the audience: “This is one of the things that’s kind of crazy and surreal about this kind of experience, I don’t think anybody looks forward to having a movie made about themselves, especially someone who is a privacy advocate. Some of my family members have said, ‘He sounds just like you!’ I can’t hear it myself but if he can pass the family test he’s doing all right.”

Superhero series, Agents of Shield also had their moment during Comic Con. The cast led by executive producer announced that a new character, Ghost Rider, is being added to the upcoming fourth season of the show.

“Season 4 will unquestionably be the series’ biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider. When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything,” executive producer Jeph Loeb said.

The coming days will see participation from some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Those expected to make an appearance include Gal Gadot, Chris Pine from Wonder Woman, the cast of Suicide Squad and their director David Ayer, Charlie Hunnam from King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts from Kong: Skull Island and Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell and director David Yates from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
