Anjum Shehzad’s long-delayed Mah-e-Meer, which focuses on the struggle of a contemporary poet and draws parallel with the life of leading Urdu poet of the 18th century Mir Taqi Mir, finally has an official release date as well as a trailer, that’s out. The film stars Fahad Mustafa in the titular role as Meer, who will be romancing Mahtab (Iman Ali).
Featuring Mustafa as a struggling poet who seems to have everything going against him, the film’s trailer hints at an intense storyline. Mustafa fits like a glove in the character of a contemporary poet as he goes through intense emotional experiences in an attempt to promote Urdu poetry. He is deeply in love with Ali, who is playing the role of a courtesan, and the two seem to share great on-screen chemistry. The trailer is quite appealing visually and appears like a piece of art depicting Mustafa in a powerful character.
The film also stars Alyy Khan, Sanam Saeed and Manzar Sehbai in important roles. Khan seems to be the antagonist (Nawab Sahab) while Saeed’s character appears to be an interesting one. There are five songs in the film that are written by veteran writer and director Sarmad Sehbai.
Mah-e-Meer is slated to hit theatres on May 6, this year.
