Sarfaraz says Pakistani fans will not boo Australia's Steve Smith
Sarfaraz Ahmed insists Pakistan fans won´t boo shamed Australia star Steven Smith during their World Cup match in Taunton on Wednesday.
Taunton: Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has has assured that Pakistani fans will not boo Australian player Steven Smith when his side would take on the defending champions at Taunton on Wednesday.
Australia’s Steven Smith was booed by Indian supporters during India vs Australia game at the Oval on Sunday and Indian captain Virat Kohli had to say sorry to the Australian player on behalf of Indian spectators.
But, Pakistan’s skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed says Pakistani supporters will not do such thing.
“Our supporters love cricket and cricketers and there won’t be any such thing when we play Australia on Wednesday at Taunton,” said Sarfaraz ahead of the game.
The Pakistan captain said that team’s clash against Australia will be crucial and Pakistani players are aware of the fact that Australia can comeback strongly.
He added that top three batsmen will be important for both the sides.
“It is important that top three batsmen score runs and provide team a solid base. Similarly, it is also important to get opponents' top order out quickly to restrict them,” he said.
“Toss will be crucial in tomorrow’s game as well,” Sarfaraz added.
When asked, the captain said that high scoring games in World Cup isn’t an easy thing as it is totally a different pressure tournament.
“You post 500 type scores once in a blue moon. World Cup is a pressure game and it is not easy to post big totals here when there’s so much pressure around,” he said.
