A Michelin-starred restaurant has left one woman dead and 28 in severe condition from food poisoning in the Spanish city of Valencia.
According to a report by The Guardian, a 46-year-old woman who remains unidentified, had passed away on Sunday due to food poisoning after eating at Valencia’s Riff restaurant with her husband and son who are on the road to recovery.
The meals being offered at the restaurant have thus far led to food poisoning amongst 28 individuals out of the 75 that were tracked down by local health authorities.
In a statement released on Thursday, the regional heath authority said: “With the exception of the person who died, all those who fell ill have shown light symptoms – mainly vomiting.”
After the fiasco, Bernd H Knöller head chef and owner of the fine dining eatery expressed his regret: “I’ve taken the decision to close the restaurant until we know the precise causes and can reopen with the necessary guarantees for the safety of both staff and customers.”
