Shiva Singh, 19-year-old Indian player recently gave the ball delivery with 360-degree twirl that has gone viral in the debate.

Singh was playing for Uttar Pradesh against Bengal in the CK Nayudu Trophy, the four-day domestic under-23 Tournament for India’s State teams.

The left-arm spinner Shiva Singh turned 360 degrees before delivering the ball, which the batsman managed to defend.

However, the umpire Vinod Seshan promptly called it a dead-ball, suggesting the bowler was unfairly trying to distract the batsman.

“I delivered this 360-degree ball against Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well, where it was fine. Batsman always goes for the reverse-sweep or the switch-hit against bowlers. But when bowlers do something like this it’s deemed a dead ball”, said Singh while speaking with ESPN Cricinfo.

Former India spinner Nilesh Kulkarni was left fuming about the delivery being declared a dead ball. "It's a bad call. How can it be a dead ball? If Lasith Malinga runs in and bowls with a sling-shot action or Paul Adams bowls with that freaky action, then why not this guy? For me, he is not chucking. That is wrong," said Kulkarni."

While the batsmen have the liberty to step out, play switch hits, move ahead, comeback is it not a distraction for the bowler? It's the same principle. It's the same logic, why two rules for different people," Kulkarni added.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan tweeted, "Love this ... We keep saying bowlers must bring new innovation ... No Issue at all with this.”

“Wow what a 360-degree bowler, never seen anything like that”, Shoaib Akhtar tweeted.

While the question took the tide that whether the ball was fair or foul, Indian media took a different turn and made a meme out of his action. In the meme, the video clip captioned ‘Rare footage of Shaktimaan Bowling’.
