WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump will undergo a medical examination today as questions swirl about his mental and physical fitness.
Trump’s medical exam was announced early last month after his speech in which he declared the Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which sparked anger across the world.
The exam will be conducted by presidential physician Ronny Jackson at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland.
White House officials said that Mr Trump would not undergo a psychiatric exam. They did not say if he would undergo other screenings, such as cognitive and neurological exams.
While the author of “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” has charged that Trump lacked the mental fitness to serve as president, drawing fire from Trump, his aides and supporters.
