Selfless Jeff Bezos opens more than dozen free Montessori schools in Texas
Amazon founders "Bezos Academy" provides free education to 3 to 5 year old's across 6 US states
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is the second richest man in the world with a net worth of over 206 billion.
In 2018, the billionaire had announced that he would create a network of free Montessori-inspired preschools, WFAA reported.
Five years later, the Amazon founder opened Bezos Academy for 3- to 5-year-olds, stating that his preschool experience in Mexico prompted him to open schools.
Bezos Academy Spokesperson, Allison Leader, said: "Bezos credits having a Montessori preschool education for really setting him and his family up for success. And when he was determining what avenues he wanted to use to spend his money, this was right at the top of his list."
In 2023, he opened more than 16 schools across Washington, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Kentucky, and Florida.
Now he is opening a dozen more in Texas.
Director of the North Dallas campus, Kanetria Doolin, said: "We are tuition-free. So, a family that makes under $120,000 per year could qualify to attend here."
The Bezos Academy preschools are free, and admissions are usually open year-round. The school also provides children with three meals a day, excluding snacks.
The preschools are situated within other institutions, like elementary schools and community colleges, which provide space to the academies for free.
