ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance and Revenue Mohammad Ishaq Dar Sunday said the government has decided to keep the previous petroleum prices intact for May.

Addressing a press conference, the minister said the government has not endorsed a summary moved by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and decided to provide relief to the common man by providing cash subsidy on petroleum products.

He said Petrol would be traded at Rs.74 per litre, High Speed Diesel Rs.83 per litre, light diesel and kerosene oil Rs. 44 per litre.

The minister said the government has to absorb about Rs. 110 billion shortfall in revenue due to provision of subsidy on petroleum product during the current fiscal year.

He said the government wanted to provide maximum relief to the people by not passing on hike in the petroleum products.
