DUBAI: Peshawar Zalmi survived to defeat Lahore Qalandars by three wickets in a tense low-scoring Twenty20 match here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday night.
Chasing an easy target of 60 runs, Peshawar Zalmi batsmen found it very difficult to beat their opponents as spinners Yasir Shah and Sunil Narine dominated the scene.
However, Peshawar Zalmi’s tail order batsmen managed to reach the target in 17 overs after losing seven wickets.
Only two batsmen – Eoin Morgan (23) and Shahid Afridi (13) - could get into the double figures while Yasir Shah captured four wickets for just seven runs as Sunil Narine claimed two for 16 and Sohail Tanvir took one wicket for four runs.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi bowlers dismissed Lahore Qalandars for a mere 59 in 10.2 overs, the lowest total so far in the Pakistan Super League.
Sent into bat, Lahore Qalandars could not resist against the Peshaqwar Zalmi bowlers.
Hasan Ali was the most successful bowler with three for 23 while Jordan claimed two for eight runs.
The main scorers for Lahore Qalandars were Fakhar Zaman (33) and Mohammad Rizwan (11) while all other batsmen could not get into the double figures.
