KARACHI: US Consul General Grace Shelton Thursday participated in the gong ceremony (ringing the bell) during her first visit to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSE) in Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Shelton said, “I am here today to express the U.S. government’s deep commitment to Pakistan’s private sector and economic growth. I join the list of American ambassadors and consul generals to participate in the gong ceremony.” She added, “The Pakistan Stock Exchange is an important symbol of Karachi’s role in that pivotal growth.”
She said United States is trying to facilitate Pakistan business community and Pakistan has become the focus of investors.
U.S. Consul General also held a meeting with the Exchange’s Board of Directors, led by Chairman Muneer Kamal and Managing Director Nadeem Naqvi.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Stock Exchange was bullish at the start of business with increase of two hundred points in hundred-index and surpassed the limit of 41 thousand points.
