JEDDAH: Authorities in Saudi Arabia have released on bail a 19-year old man who was arrested for online flirting with American vlogger Chirstina Crockett.
According to media reports, the young man was arrested on the charges of “unethical behavior and faces up to five years in jail or a fine of 3 million Saudi Riyals if found guilty.
“Abu Sin was jailed for violating Article 6 of the Cyber Crime Law, which prohibits producing content deemed harmful to general order, public decency and religious values,” Arab News reported police spokesman as saying.
Al Arabiya news channel reported that the Abu Sin’s case remains open at the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.
The young man posted a video on Twitter after his release, in which he was expressing regret for sharing his videos online. “I will never do it again,” he said.
The videos of conversations between Abu Sin and Crockett went viral on the internet before the police arrested him .
