George and Amal Clooney support the Gerber Presley’s family after his death
George Clooney also gives his first comments on the loss of Presley Gerber
George Clooney has made his first public comments about the death of Presley Gerber, the son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber.
Clooney, 65, was speaking with Entertainment Tonight on Friday, Oct. 9, at the Albies, an event hosted by The Clooney Foundation of Justice at the Natural History Museum in London, when a reporter asked whether he and the Gerbers planned to honour Presley’s legacy.
“I don’t think we’re even in the position of being able to talk about it,” he said. He called it “one of the most devastating things that’s happened to our family and their family.”
“It’s the worst thing that could ever happen to a family,” added Clooney, who is Rande Gerber’s business partner in the tequila brand Casamigos.
A source told People that Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, have been “taking shifts” with the Gerbers so that “they aren’t alone.”
The source said the Clooneys joined the family in Los Angeles after learning of Presley’s death. “They’re helping with arrangements and whatever else the family needs,” the source said. “George has always been very close with both Kaia and Presley.”
Gerber died on September 20 of an apparent overdose and cardiac arrest. Santa Monica police records show a call for an overdose that morning at a facility in the Santa Monica area, and the dispatch call also noted cardiac arrest.
