Barry Manilow is back on stage in Las Vegas after a six-week break to continue recovering from lung cancer.

The 83-year-old singer performed Thursday night at the International Theater at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. He is scheduled to perform again Friday. “This is the first time back in a long time. I have some medical problems, but I’m back!” he told the crowd. He also said, “I’m having a good time with you guys!”

Fans cheered and revived a popular tradition from his 1970s concerts: throwing underwear on stage.

Manilow has been doing a residency at the Westgate since the start of the year. He stopped after his Aug. 22 show to rest. After a summer tour that ended in August, he wrote to fans, “It seems that we were pushing a little too hard.” He had performed 29 shows in just 68 days before the break. He promised to return on Oct. 8, “singing like a bird.”

He was diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2025, after an MRI found a cancerous spot on his left lung. He shared the news on social media and rescheduled his January concerts. At the time he said he was “counting the days” until he returned to what he called his home away from home at the Westgate.

His residency dates run through the end of the year.
