Google Play to turn your game library into playlists

Google Play may soon give Android gamers a new way to organise and share their favourite titles, with a playlist feature that could turn a collection of games into something more personal and customisable.

The feature was spotted in Google Play Store version 53.3.21-34, where strings in the app's code point to custom game playlists. Google has not announced the feature, and there is no guarantee it will reach users, but the code suggests the company is building more than a simple bookmarking tool.

The users might get an opportunity to build their playlists around some topics such as "Best offline games", "Games to play with friends" or "Games you have to try". Moreover, the playlists can be shared with other users.

It seems like the creation of a playlist will include the process of searching for some game titles in the Play Store library and adding them to the playlist. From one of the code strings, it can be seen that to create a playlist users should "add at least 3 games".

There is also information about the options like "Add game", "Search games" and "Search for games to add to your playlist".

Users could customise their game collections

Google is also expected to introduce some personalisation tools. The playlist maker would be able to enter the name and description and select a colour for their playlist.

The name might be mandatory, whereas the description might be optional. Colour choice would enable people to distinguish playlists depending on genres, completed games or recommended titles.

The feature also seems to have some options for managing the collections once they are created.

The code strings show the presence of such options as "Edit playlist", "Remove game", and "Delete playlist". There are also warnings about deleting the playlist and unsaved changes.
