Apple reveals when iPhone duo preorder prep begins

Apple has confirmed exactly when shoppers can start preparing for iPhone Duo pre-orders, giving buyers a head start before the official launch window opens.

iPhone Duo pre-orders officially go live on Friday, October 16, at 8:00 a.m. ET / 5:00 a.m. PT. But starting Monday, October 12, and running through much of October 15, Apple is opening its "Get ready" window, letting shoppers log into the Apple Store app or Apple's online store to make their selections in advance. The update appeared directly on Apple's iPhone Duo product page.

During the phase of "Get ready", buyers get an opportunity to select the colour of the iPhone Duo, its memory capacity, the wireless carrier for use and a payment method before buying the phone in advance.

Apple explains that the advance completion of all these preparatory tasks will increase the speed of purchasing during the time of opening the preorder, thus avoiding any troubles related to possible problems at the peak load of the website.

This additional speed can be very helpful if the selected configuration is likely to be sold out.
