Chris Rock reveals what success means to him at 61

A cursory look at Chris Rock will give anyone a clue that he is successful: a well-established creative career and a reported net worth of $60 million.

But in his view, Hollywood success does not necessarily mean he is succeeding in life.

At the premiere of Misty Green in the New York Film Festival, he said, “Most people don’t make it, quote unquote, in Hollywood.“

However, the comic said that, at this point in his life, he defined success as something close to his personal self, like family.

"Making it is, to me, where I’m at right now: my daughter having great kids. Having love in your life."

"If you got no love, you’re broke as fuck. That’s making it. All this other stuff – it’s just a job at the end of the day," he bluntly said.

Misty Green, meanwhile, will open in theatres on Oct. 9.
