'Twilight' star secretly joined Marvel series without telling co-stars

Ashley Greene, who portrays Alice Cullen in Twilight, makes a brief appearance in Wonder Man, a Marvel series.

Interestingly, she played herself on the show, but a fictionalized version of herself.

In the very first episode, she acted alongside Simon Williams, essayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. He is the series' key character.

Together, they were instructed to film a death scene for the fictional episode of American Horror Story.

However, Williams became so absorbed in the role that he ultimately complicated the scene, which led the production to fire him.

Here's where Green's former Twilight cast comes in.

She told Collider that Marvel has been known for keeping appearances secret, and she wasn't the first choice for the role; instead, a star dropped out at the eleventh hour, and she was called in to join.

So the casting process was quick and secretive.

Apparently, for these reasons, she couldn't tell her co-stars.

But it still comes as a shock to them. For example, Jackson Rathbone, who played her love interest in Twilight.

He only found out when he and his wife watched Wonder Man.

"I'm literally watching it with my wife, and she's like, 'Did you know?' And I was like, 'No!'" the actor exclaimed.

That aside, Wonder Man has been cancelled despite Marvel renewing it for season two.

Commenting on that, Greene said, "And then they're not going to do a second season, which bummed me out."

"It's honestly one of my favourite Marvel shows they've ever done. "Honest to God, the lead actors—I mean, all the actors on there," she said.

"There's this one actress who made a cameo in the first episode; I'm like, 'Damn!'"
