Jay-Z reveals struggle he faced after falling in love with Beyonce

Jay Z is dishing on some rare insights into his and Beyoncé's relationship, revealing how she helped him embrace his vulnerable side.

During a recent chat on JAY-Z on 8, the Grammy-winning rapper opened up about his and the top-charting artist's early days of dating and how he used to be less expressive.

The 56-year-old rapper said, referring to his 4:44 song, "I probably heard that song less than any song I’d ever written, except for You Must Love Me. Just listening to it is hard. Doing it was difficult enough. Then hearing it back."

In the song, Jay Z apologises for his immature behaviour during their early days of romance and expresses his hidden feelings.

He has now admitted Beyonce was more mature than him and he was afraid of being being vulnerable.

He explained the lyrics of the track, saying, "That’s how we start going together.

"I was so immature and so afraid to be vulnerable that I like this person. I like this woman. And I’m like, how do we take the step from just talking on the phone and being friends to boyfriend and girlfriend?"

"And instead of saying, ‘Let’s try this thing, boyfriend and girlfriend...’ I was like, ‘Don’t embarrass me. It’s like, are you asking me to be your girlfriend?' That was the only way I could get to being vulnerable like that," he added.

This came after Jay Z, who tied the knot with Beyonce in 2008 and shares three children with her, confessed to being inspired by his wife.

He praised Beyonce's "fearless approach to life in a chat with Extra and admitted, "I’m super inspired by her. I think she’s a phenomenal producer and writer."
