Why is Marvel excited about 'Avengers: Endgame Encore'?

Avengers: Endgame Encore has opened in theatres. Despite being available at home for years, people still flocked to cinemas in droves.

As a result, the domestic opening was $26 million, and worldwide it grossed $86 million.

This box-office performance beat other new movies running in theatres. But specifically for Marvel, this re-release certainly bodes well.

That is because the studio is gearing up for the release of its next tentpole, Avengers: Doomsday.

So, a strong reception to the Encore suggests excitement for Avengers is still present among audiences, despite years of superhero fatigue.

David A. Gross, who is behind FranchiseRe, a box-office newsletter, said, “Re-releases rarely earn more than $10 million."

"As a marketing exercise, [this] is an effective way to build early word-of-mouth," he penned.

Meanwhile, on Primetime, the latest movie of Robert Pattinson, which opened with $19 million, Gross said, “This is an outstanding opening for an original crime drama."

“Robert Pattinson has built an impressive filmography. The actor is a bona fide star, and he’s carrying this movie.”

This is Pattinson's third movie this year; the previous two were The Drama and The Odyssey, and his upcoming film is Dune: Part III.
