Health Canada warns against use of AI smart glasses, issues immediate recall

A pair of AI-powered smart glasses has been recalled in Canada and the United States over concerns that the device could overheat and cause burns.

Health Canada said INMO Smart Glass AIR3 glasses may overheat on the left side during extended use.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and update the product firmware to version 3.16 before reusing the product,” Health Canada said in its recall notice.

The affected glasses can be identified by an AIR3 label on the inside of the right arm. They were sold through Amazon, Kickstarter and INMO’s website.

INMO said 120 pairs were sold in Canada and 1,643 in the US between December 2025 and August 2026.

Health Canada said no injuries had been reported in Canada as of September 17.

However, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission said “the firm has received 10 reports of the AIR3 glasses overheating, including reports of a burning sensation to the face and the left side of the ear.”

Owners are advised to update the firmware before using the glasses again and contact INMO if needed.
