White House restores CNN, Politico and MS NOW access following federal judge’s ruling

CNN and MS NOW journalists have regained access to the White House, hours after a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to lift its ban on the news outlets.

Reuters reported on Thursday that reporters from the organisations had once again been granted entry to the White House.

CNN also confirmed its access had been restored, with reporter Betsy Klein allowed to re-enter the White House on Thursday.

Klein had previously been turned away despite making multiple attempts to enter earlier in the day, after Federal Judge Timothy Kelly ordered the administration to restore access.

The development followed complaints from CNN, MS NOW and Politico that the Trump administration had continued to block their journalists despite Kelly’s ruling.

Kelly had ordered the administration to respond to concerns raised by the news organisations after reporters were denied entry on Thursday morning.

Lawyers for the outlets earlier accused the administration of having “already repeatedly violated the Court’s Order” and requested an emergency hearing.

The dispute comes amid a broader battle over White House press access after President Donald Trump barred the three organisations from entering restricted presidential areas.
