Frances Fisher opens up about dating Clint Eastwood
Frances Fisher recalls the quiet power Clint Eastwood brings to a set
Frances Fisher has fond memories of her time with ex-partner Clint Eastwood, both personally and professionally.
During a recent podcast, the 74-year-old Titanic actress reflected on their relationship, which began on the set of 1988's Pink Cadillac and continued through their work together on 1992's Unforgiven, the film that earned Eastwood two Oscars. The couple split in 1995.
Fisher also shared some happy family news, revealing that she and Eastwood's daughter, Francesca, recently welcomed her second son, making Fisher a grandmother.
Talking about Eastwood, who is now 96, Fisher said on Still Here Hollywood podcast that she never saw him get flustered, even under pressure. “He’s very easygoing. I never saw him ever get rattled about anything.”
She remembered how quiet the set was while filming Unforgiven.
She said everyone showed him a lot of respect, and she believes that's because of how he carries himself.. She noted that he rarely moved around much and would simply stay silent if he didn't want to answer a question.
She added that he's always been someone who does things entirely on his own terms. “He won’t do anything that he doesn’t want to do. That’s very clear. He does it his way. And you either get on board or you don’t.”
In an older interview from 2021 interview, Fisher also spoke about how long it took to make Unforgiven. She shared on the A Word on Westerns podcast that Eastwood held onto the script for 17 years before deciding to make the film, having initially felt he was too young for the role.
She also said the script barely changed from the very first draft, which she said was unusual. She said it was so well written that it read almost like a novel.
