Sovereign AI fund in talks to back Political Sciences: What to know
A sovereign AI fund is in key talks to support drug discovery
A sovereign AI fund is reportedly in discussions to invest in drug discovery startup Political Sciences-a move aimed at using artificial intelligence to accelerate drug discovery.
The government's £ 500m fund to support a wave of promising AI companies is close to taking a share in Potential Sciences. It will join a select group of early stage companies that have received funding for their project.
In this connection, Josephine Kant, Sovereign AI’s head of ventures is slated to join Political Science as part of the deal. The Potential Science platform uses complex statistical analysis to discover molecules and drugs more rapidly. The infrastructure is now gaining popularity among pharmaceutical companies for developing blockbuster drug medicines.
The government fund has also announced investments in companies including Oxile Computing, Ineffable Intelligence and Callosum. Moreover, the companies included in the Sovereign AI portfolio are worth billions of pounds.
The vehicle is run by a venture capitalist, Suzanne Ashman whose designation was disclosed this year by Sky News. The government refused to discuss the negotiations with Political Sciences while the company did not respond to recent requests for comment.
