Prince William, Princess Catherine get on the field for Scottish sport

Prince William and Princess Catherine made a royal visit to Bute Shinty Club.

On Thursday, September 17, the official Instagram handle of the Prince and Princess of Wales offered a glimpse into their visit to the Isle of Bute in Scotland. However, in the carousel post, Prince William and Princess Catherine can be seen interacting and playing shinty with young players at Bute Shinty Club; they posed with the players too.

The caption highlighted, “A first visit to the Isle of Bute, beginning with a sport that has been part of island life for generations.”

“At Bute Shinty Club, meeting players, young people and the volunteers keeping one of Scotland’s oldest sports thriving. Passing on skills, tradition and a strong sense of belonging to the next generation,” it concluded.

In the comment section, the royal fans showed their support; one user wrote, “Princess Kate has so much natural sports ability. Love to see her play pretty much any sport!!”

While another showered Prince William with praise, “He loves sports and hits the ball straight to the heart; he has a heart of gold for the people—that is our William, a prince of hearts for the people,” he wrote.

It is pertinent to mention that shinty is a traditional Scottish team sport; it has been played for hundreds of years, especially all over the Highlands and Islands.
