Apple’s iPhone Duo sparks viral jokes from Samsung, Duolingo

Apple has launched its first foldable phone, iPhone Duo on Wednesday. During the launch, the company also claimed that its design and privacy will let it leap ahead of competitors including Samsung and Huawei who have been selling folding phones for years.

Samsung officially unveiled its first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, on February 20, 2019, at a Galaxy Unpacked event.

However, Apple’s newly launched iPhone Duo was mocked by Duolingo and Samsung in a viral exchange between two companies. Samsung took aim at Apple as it claimed that iPhone makers copied their technology and design. Samsung initiated it and later Duolingo joined the post exchanges.

Samsung Mobile US posted a series of posts shortly after Apple unveiled iPhone Duo. In one post, it showed solidarity with Duolingo as the foldable phone has “Duo” in its name.

Taking to X, it posted, "I'm so sorry, Duolingo. They copied us too, Solidarity.”

Duolingo quickly joined the conversation, posting, “When an ugly stranger calls you twin. No Brand.”

Samsung replied, “Ugly?? Watch your language.”

Duolingo continued the exchange light-heartedly and commented, “sorry twin heat of the moment twin. Please don’t break my app on your phone's twin.”

In another post, Samsung also slammed Apple for its Duo phone, “Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers.”

This does not end here, another phone brand Motorola also joined the post-launch jabs. In an Instagram post, the company posted a video showing transitions from the classic pink Razr to newer models, concluding with the Razr Fold and a teaser for a compact device.

The post read, “Some are just discovering it. We’ve been making it even better. Just wait for our next move.”

The viral exchanges and post-launch chatter took the internet by storm as users enjoyed these posts and some trolled them as one user commented, “The same underpaid third party intern runs both of these accounts.”
