Aaron Donald ends retirement with $20mn Rams deal in Super Bowl push

NFL star Aaron Donald is coming out of retirement and returning to the Los Angeles Rams as the team targets another Super Bowl title.

Donald has agreed to a one-year, $20 million contract with playoff incentives that could increase its value to $30 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Rams confirmed the 35-year-old defensive tackle's return but did not disclose financial terms.

Donald retired in March 2024 after 10 seasons with Los Angeles.

Talk of a possible comeback increased after the Rams acquired reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett in June.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said Donald had since followed a "very strict, regimented process that was similar to what he did when he played" while assessing a potential return.

Donald later completed a workout in front of Rams staff, with McVay saying he "looked outstanding."

Donald has recorded 111 career sacks, the second-most among primary defensive tackles since sacks became an official NFL statistic in 1982.
