Cardi B issues warning to stars struggling due to fame
Cardi B confesses she 'didn't apply' to be a celebrity
Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, is spitting facts about fame and success, admitting it's a double-edged sword.
The WAP rapper made a recent appearance in Vogue Arabia and spilled the insights into the challenging side effects of fame.
The 33-year-old rapper told the outlet that the desire to be in the spotlight comes with its own drawbacks and one has to develop their own coping mechanism except to stay away from a certain vice.
Reflecting on her successful career in music, the mom-of-four said, “I have proven a lot of people wrong over and over and over again. It makes me feel good that I achieved things that nobody else did.”
However, Cardi admitted it came with a great sacrifice and struggle that she had never anticipated.
“That’s why they say to be careful about what you wish for because you just might get it,” the AM I The Drama artist noted, adding, “Being a celebrity comes with a lot and sometimes I feel I didn’t apply for this.”
And after all this, there is no proper way to protect oneself's sanity.
“You can’t really protect yourself,” Cardi admitted. “You are never gonna be ready for this type of pressure, you know?”
Despite all the pressure and stress that come with fame and being in the spotlight, Cardi has emphasized that newly famous people or those who have been struggling with the side effects of fame should stay away from doing drugs.
“You just gotta find a mechanism that works for you [to help deal with the fame]. But whatever mechanism you decide on, just don’t turn to drugs, okay?” she warned.
“I know it’s hard. I know it really is. Being famous is almost like a mental game but whatever you do, just don’t do drugs," Cardi concluded.
