PSG’s €35m deal for Zion Suzuki collapses over agent fees: Here’s why

Aston Villa have made a formal approach for goalkeeper Zion Suzuki after Paris Saint-Germain’s projected transfer for the Japanese international dramatically collapsed.

The Premier League club is now pursuing an agreement to bolster their lineup with key conditions of the agreement having been negotiated with the PSG with the package valued around €35 million including add-ons.

The breakthrough represents a significant change in the situation surrounding the highly rated goalkeeper.

PSG had been reportedly closing in on Suzuki and had finalized an agreement with Parma valued at approximately €35 million with an extended pact also being discussed for the Japanese international. 

However, the transfer fell through after PSG pulled out amid stipulation disputes over growing demands and commission from the Suzuki camp.

Rather than advancing projects from scratch, Villa are geared up to match the financial conditions PSG had agreed with Parma making the €35 million package available on the current basis.

Villa moving for Suzuki provides the franchise with either potential long-term growth to Martinez or a backup strategy should the Argentine leave. Furthermore, PSG’s loss could become Aston Villa’s major gain with Unai Emery’s side now seeking to secure one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers for a massive package.
