Barry Manilow shocks fans with 'unexpected' announcement
Barry Manilow cancels his Lexington concert at the last minute
Barry Manilow left his fans in shock on Tuesday as he cancelled his Lexington concert at the last minute.
On August 4, the 83-year-old singer announced on his X handle that he had cancelled his show in Lexington due to "unforeseen circumstances."
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight's show in Lexington has been rescheduled," he wrote.
Additionally, a spokesperson for Rupp Arena commented, "Due to unexpected and unforeseen circumstances, the Barry Manilow concert scheduled for tonight, August 4 at Rupp Arena is postponed. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new date once it is announced."
For those unversed, Barry was scheduled to perform at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky on Tuesday night.
Last December, the Copacabana singer revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer and had to undergo surgery.
“You just don’t even think about [how fragile life is],” Manilow said of his stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis. “And suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I’m still here. I’m not all here; there’s part of me that isn’t here — they took out a part of me, and now I’ve got to figure out, ‘What do I do?’” he said at that time.
In March, Barry announced that he was cancer-free.
"This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I've read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks," he told People magazine.
"And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought," added the Can't Smile Without You hitmaker.
