Jaafar Jackson lands new movie with Will Smith
Jaafar Jackson builds on 'Michael' success with new action movie
Jaafar Jackson has landed his next acting role after the success of Michael, the blockbuster biopic about his uncle, Michael Jackson.
The 30-year-old actor has joined the cast of Supermax, an upcoming action thriller from Amazon MGM Studios. He will star alongside Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb, although details about his role have not yet been revealed.
The film will be directed by David Gordon Green, whose previous credits include Halloween and The Exorcist: Believer. A synopsis previously released by the studio reveals that Supermax follows two FBI agents investigating a murder inside the world's most secure prison. The movie will stream exclusively on Prime Video, with filming expected to begin in mid-August.
Smith was announced as the film's lead earlier this year, while Robb confirmed her casting in July by sharing the news on Instagram. She wrote that she was "extremely grateful" and "extremely ready to kick some a**."
Before landing the lead role in Michael, Jaafar said he had never planned to become an actor. He previously admitted he "never dreamed" of acting before auditioning to portray the King of Pop. He was officially announced as the film's star in January 2023.
Supermax was written by David Weil and David J. Rosen, who will also serve as executive producers. Smith and Adam Fishbach are producing the film through Smith's production company, Westbrook.
