Ann Widecombe’s final video emerges the minute before she was allegedly attacked last Wednesday.

Reports indicate the former Tory minister gave a radio interview on a Christian station shortly before her death in which she defended Nigel Farage over two parliamentary investigations into his finances.

She also criticised the Commons standards committee as a "game of personal destruction".

At the start of the video, Miss Widdecombe was asked about her opinion regarding the “investigations into a £5m gift from crypto billionaire and other gifts accepted by Mr Farage.”

She replied, “Well, I think first of all the very long, drawn-out nature of this, which, as I say, has been constantly accompanied by press speculation.”

“And also the fact, you know, he was answering to the standards committee for one thing, and then suddenly another one came along, again applying to the time before he became an MP, indeed, at a time when he wasn’t even an active politician.”

The former Conservative MP was found dead at her home in Hayton, Devon, on July 9. According to police preliminary investigation findings, the 78-year-old was attacked at approximately 12:30 pm on July 8, nearly 24-hours after her body was discovered on July 9.

Authorities have reported that she sustained serious injuries resulting from blunt force trauma to her head. During the investigation, the police have detained two key suspects. The first 26-year-old man was released later.

The second person detained by police is the 28-year-old in South Yorkshire. The police found that he had driven almost 300 miles to Widdecombe's Dartmoor home with a "wooden stick" on the morning of her death.

Another video emerged on Tuesday during the investigation where a person can be seen entering a red car. In one of his pockets of shorts, he carried a long object protruding from his pocket.

Times Radio first released the video and wrote, “Ann Widdecombe defended Nigel Farage's financial conduct in an interview recorded only 20 minutes before police believe she was attacked.”

“It shows her passionately-held beliefs and long political experience. This excerpt is being published with the permission of Ann's family.”
