Mick Jagger reveals why he never met Elvis Presley
Mick Jagger reflected on advice from John Lennon he wishes he'd ignored
Mick Jagger is expressing his regret for listening to John Lennon's advice not to meet his idol, Elvis Presley.
In a recent chat on Conan O'Brien's Needs a Friend podcast on Monday, the Rolling Stones frontman unveiled his remorse for missing the chance to get to know the King of Rock and Roll.
Mick recalled, "I remember John telling me, 'You should never meet your heroes. I would never meet Elvis, Mick, if I were you."
"And so, I didn't. I took John's advice. It was really stupid of me, really. I'd love to have met Elvis."
John himself met Elvis, died at the age of 42 in 1977, on multiple occasions, but urged Mick to not try to meet him because it might shatter the image of Elvis he had in his mind.
The 82-year-old artist explained, "I wanted to keep my Elvis to myself, my version of Elvis."
"And so, I didn't want my version of Elvis shattered like John's was, but maybe my Elvis version would have been different."
It is pertinent to mention that John Lennon was shot dead outside his New York City apartment at the age of 40 on December 8, 1980.
