Owner survives but young puppy suffers tragic end after dog attack

An earlier attack on a woman and her pet – a 19-week-old German Shepherd – by a pit bull-like dog has the latest update.

According to the BBC, the puppy – whose name was Lincoln – succumbed to his injuries after being savagely mauled by the canine near Hemlington Lake in Middlesbrough on Sunday.

In an emergency ward, desperate efforts had been made to save the young pup’s life, but the injuries were too severe.

The pet’s owner, a woman, has been in hospital receiving treatment for injuries.

The incident took place on June 28.

The woman and her young puppy had been on a walk when the canine charged at them and left them with brutal injuries.

While the pit bull-like dog was put down by the Cleveland police, a woman and a man were arrested.

However, after questioning, they were released on bail as the investigation continues.

Assistant Chief Constable Dave Sutherland assured the public that the situation is under control following the shocking incident.

"We understand anyone who witnessed the initial attack or the aftermath may have experienced shock or distress; however, the safety of the public is always paramount,” he concluded.
