Emirates launches world-first travel insurance covering emergency evacuation: What passengers need to know

Emirates has launched a world-first Comprehensive Travel Cover, making a major industry shift by providing medical coverage for conflict-related incidents and extended support for disrupted journeys.

If Emirate services are unavailable, the airline will rebook affected passengers to their destination at no extra cost-a major benefit that also applies to flights canceled due to wartime disruptions. 

For those unversed, Emirates new Comprehensive Travel Cover will cover trip cancellation cover, incidental reimbursement, medical expenses and emergency evacuation worldwide. 

It is pertinent to mention here that the newly added conflict-related medical expenses cover up to $25,000 and offer a free trip extension of up to 30 days.

In this connection, Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said: “Listening to customer feedback, we realized that travel demand remains strong but there was a gap in the market with regards to travel insurance cover. Therefore, we acted to address our customers’ needs. Together with Travel Guard, a leader in the global insurance industry, Emirates is pleased to offer an enhanced travel insurance product that is as comprehensive as it is reassuring for a wider range of situations. With strong demand for travel in summer, we are proud to offer our customers added confidence in planning their journeys to and through Dubai when they book with Emirates.”

Meanwhile, customers also continue to have access to established benefits including free date changes for tickets booked from April 2 and maintain the option to hold fares for 24 hours free of charge.

It is currently available to purchase in Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and United Kingdom.

On social platform X, a recent announcement sparked a wave of intriguing comments with one user noting: “Emirates gained my trust during this uncertain phase where they made the best possible travel arrangements for my family.
