Tom Brady's 'true love' Instagram post was a pointed message to Gisele Bundchen

Tom Brady reportedly used a cryptic Instagram post to send a pointed message to ex-wife Gisele Bündchen after she welcomed a baby with her new husband, Joaquim Valente.

The clarification came from a new book by Lars Anderson titled Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, out Tuesday, September 29.

About a month after Bündchen's son with Valente was born in February 2025, Brady posted a photo of himself throwing a football against a sunset, captioned "True Love." 

Anderson writes that Brady used the phrase deliberately, noting it was "the verbatim phrase Gisele had repeatedly used to describe Brady's relationship with football." The book claims people close to Brady saw "no ambiguity" in the message, with one friend calling it "the softest middle finger."

Brady, 49, and Bündchen, 46, divorced in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. They share two kids, Benjamin and Vivian; Brady also has a son, Jack, with ex Bridget Moynahan.

The book also details Brady's alleged last-ditch effort to save the marriage that same year. He told the Buccaneers he needed to "take care of some personal things" and took an 11-day leave from training camp — described in the book as "one final, desperate attempt to keep his family together." 

Teammates and coaches reportedly grew concerned about his health after he lost nearly 20 pounds. When Brady returned, Anderson writes that his "spirit seemed more broken than before," as though the time away had "carved deep canyons into his heart."
