Princess Kate mourns the loss of three royal navy personnel in helicopter crash
Princess Kate and Prince William reacted to the devastating loss.
On Wednesday, British Royal Navy helicopter, Merlin Mk4, crashed during a training exercise in Devon. This led to the death of three personnel on site.
Now, taking to the official Instagram handle of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Kate shared a personal statement on behalf of herself and her husband Prince William.
In the statement, Kate wrote, "I was so saddened to hear of the tragic loss of three service personnel from the Fleet Air Arm following a helicopter training exercise last night."
She went on to add, "William and I hold their families and friends in our hearts at this very difficult time," signing off with her intitial "C" for Catherine.
It is pertinent to mention that the Merlin Mk4 was part of Commando Helicopter Force, comprising 25 choppers, of Royal Marines based at RNAS Yeovilton in Somerset.
Royal navy also issued an emotional statement that read: "We are incredibly sad to report that three members of the Royal Navy have died during a helicopter training exercise near Sourton, Devon in the early hours of Wednesday, 3 June."
It continued, "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives. Emergency services responded swiftly to the incident and an investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash."
"All three families have been informed and are receiving specialist support from the Royal Navy," it concluded.
