And it was his father, the filmmaker said, who gave birth to the idea in his head.

As his new science fiction film Disclosure Day is set to release, Spielberg, it appeared, believed it was a 'perfect' time to share the vignette.

“I’ve always believed," he told E! News, referring to aliens.

Then the director shared that his father, Arnold Spielberg, an electrical engineer, helped convince him of the existence of extraterrestrial life.

According to Spielberg, his dad worked on RCA's (Radio Corporation of America) first computer.

"Even as a child, my father was an electrical engineer, and he worked on the very first computer for RCA years and years ago."

Arnold, who was an avid reader of science fiction, planted the idea of extraterrestrial life in his mind.

"My dad put it into my mind that we are not alone," he noted.

"He wasn’t talking about Earth, he was talking about the cosmos.”

But Spielberg said he just did not stop at his father's opinion.

He did his own research.

“As I got older and older, I started believing that something really is going on that we’re not being told.”

“There were notes I had been taking for three or four years,” he shared.

“I had notes just based on what was out there, what I was hearing about."

All of these preparations went into the making of Disclosure Day, set to release on June 12.
