Kate joined Charles and Queen Camilla at St. James’s Palace in London on June 2 for a special reception marking the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research U.K.

The event celebrated the charity's long-standing contributions to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment while highlighting the latest advances in medical research.

King Charles announced his diagnosis in February 2024, and continues to undergo cancer treatment. Meanwhile, Kate Middleton revealed her diagnosis just a month later, and temporarily stepped back from public duties while undergoing treatment.

The Princess of Wales completed chemotherapy in September 2024 and announced she was in remission in January 2025.

Now, the duo attended the special event, where they met researchers, clinicians, volunteers and cancer patients whose work and experiences have helped shape the charity’s mission.

It is pertinent to mention that the King and the wife of Prince William have shared a close bond since very long time. "I don’t think it is presumptuous to say that she is like the daughter he never had," author Sally Bedel Smith told People Magazine previously.
