Virginia Giuffre's family breaks silence as police launch new probe against Andrew
Virginia Giuffre family reacted after Thames Valley Police said they have been in touch with the lawyer of a potential victim
Virginia Giuffre's family has reacted after UK police confirmed they are assessing possible sexual offences as part of the investigation into former Duke of York Andrew alleged misconduct in public office.
The police investigating Andrew said Friday they are also open to probing a claim of sexual misconduct against King Charles brother.
Commenting on it, Amanda Roberts, Giuffre's sister-in-law, told Sky News that they remain "hopeful" following latest development.
She said, "I think initially it's very encouraging."
"You know, initially it was only we were hearing that it was going to be investigations of conduct, like sharing government information.”
Amanda Roberts said "And to hear that the potential of investigating sexual crimes, that is huge.”
Amanda continued, "It is more than what we are seeing here in this country and it actually gives us hope.”
"And Virginia paved the way for that. If it wasn't for her courage and her bravery and being persistent in her truth, you know, we wouldn't be here and we are so thankful for the police to really be taking this seriously”, she said and added "And it was good news for us today, so I think we're very hopeful."
Andrew, the second of the late Queen Elizabeth II´s three sons, was arrested in mid-February after new revelations stemming from his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
Detectives at Thames Valley Police said Friday they have been in touch with the lawyer of a potential victim following reports a woman was brought to Windsor, a town north of London where Andrew was a resident.
