How King Charles enters 'damage control mode' after Earl Spencer's Diana claims?
King Charles is facing fresh trouble after Earl Spencer's made bombshell claims in his new memoir 'Swan Song: Diana, My Sister'
King Charles has now reportedly taken a "full damage control mode" after the palace responded to Earl Spencer's bombshell claims in his new book about his sister Princess Diana.
One the many claims that have been made by Spencer, 62, in his memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, is that the monarch said Princess Diana would soon be "forgotten" after her death.
As per a report by Radaronline.com, Princess Diana's brother has sparked a personal conflict with Charles.
On the other hand remaining silent on the claim was not an option as it would signal in agreement with the allegation.
A palace source said, "The Palace is acutely aware of how damaging an allegation of this nature can be because Diana remains such an important figure to millions of people."
They continued, "There was a feeling that allowing such a serious claim to circulate completely unanswered would risk it becoming accepted as fact."
Referring to the official statement released by Buckingham Palace, the tattler added, "The response reflects just how seriously this is being taken, and Charles is now in full damage control mode."
After Earl Charles’ book’s preview was unveiled, the statement was released on Wednesday in favour of King Charles while also acknowledging Diana’s brother’s grief which apparently balanced both sides.
It read, "While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss."
