Trump says he may skip son’s wedding as it comes at ‘not good timing’ amid Iran war
Trump also joked that the media would criticise him regardless of his decision
US President Donald Trump has said he is unsure whether he will attend the wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., this weekend because of ongoing tensions involving Iran.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Trump said the timing of the wedding was difficult as he dealt with international issues and other responsibilities.
“He’d like me to go. But it’s going to be just a small, little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it. I’m in the midst — I said, you know, this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things,” Trump said of his eldest son.
Trump also joked that the media would criticise him regardless of his decision.
“If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed, by the fake news, of course,” he said.
He added that he wished the couple well, saying: “He’s got a very — a person who I’ve known for a long time, and hopefully they are going to have a great marriage.”
According to reports from Page Six, the wedding between Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson is expected to take place in the Bahamas on Saturday.
