'I don't like ownership': Goldie Hawn on not marrying Kurt Russell
Goldie Hawn reveals why she hasn't married longtime partner Kurt Russell
Goldie Hawn has finally revealed why she and her partner, Kurt Russell, have never married, despite being together for 43 years.
"We thought that by getting married that was actually going to take something from both of us that we didn't want," the 80-yer-old actress told Entertainment Tonight in a new interview. "We want to choose each other every day."
"I don't like ownership, you know? And I must say that I think Kurt feels the same way," Goldie further told the outlet. "I thought if I was a bird, and then someone put me in a cage, then they leave the door open, I'll never fly out. If they close the door on me, I'd probably get rid of all my feathers and become a bird with no feathers."
The Christmas Chronicles star continued, "I think that's one of the areas where we all have to feel free to be who we are, and think the way we do, and for those of us who are, basically, want to have a happy life, I think you want to be happy with yourself."
"Even if we did get married, it wouldn't make any difference because it's 42 years now," she shared.
Elsewhere in the interview, Goldie also praised Kurt, calling him a "wonderful person."
"He's kind, he's funny, he's romantic, he's a wonderful person," the actress said.
For those unversed, Goldie and Kurt have been together since 1983.
