Prince William and Kate Middleton spoke to guests at a garden party held at Buckingham Palace
Kate Middleton revealed Friday she has taken up padel and plays the sport with her parents as she accompanied Prince William to a Buckingham Palace party.
She was speaking with the guests at a garden party which they hosted on behalf on behalf of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Princess Kate said padel is a great game for non-tennis players and that she plays with her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, though tennis is her preferred sport.
It was the second garden party at the palace in a week. King Charles and and Queen Camilla hosted their first garden party of the summer season on Wednesday.
According to the royal family's official website, over the course of each year, over 30,000 guests are invited to spend a relaxed summer afternoon in the beautiful gardens of Buckingham Palace or the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
"Garden Parties are an important way for members of the Royal Family to speak to a broad range of people from all walks of life, all of whom have made a positive impact in their community."
The website says, "In summer, the Sovereign traditionally hosts three Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace, and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. Historically, Garden Parties took the place of presentation parties attended by debutantes, and have evolved into a way of recognising and rewarding public service. "
