Iran sought assurances that China would not make concessions to Washington that could undermine Iranian interests
China has reassured Iran of its continued diplomatic and economic support following high-level talks between the two countries’ foreign ministers in Beijing, according to Chinese state media.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi used the meeting to outline Tehran’s position on the ongoing conflict and signal its willingness to pursue a negotiated settlement with the United States.
He said Iran was seeking a peaceful and lasting resolution that protects its sovereignty and leads to a fair agreement.
A key focus of the talks was strengthening ties between Beijing and Tehran ahead of an expected visit by Donald Trump to China, where he is due to meet President Xi Jinping.
Iran sought assurances that China would not make concessions to Washington that could undermine Iranian interests.
According to the report, Beijing reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Iran on the global stage.
Both sides also discussed future regional security arrangements, including plans for a new Gulf and Middle East framework that could be facilitated by China once the conflict ends and shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz reopen.
